iPhone beta screen-shotting

Filed under: iPod Family, Developer, iPhone

TUAW reader Scott writes that he’s discovered how to grab screen shots from the iPhone or iPod touch running the new beta developer release. While attempting to reboot the phone, he noticed the “infamous” white flash I wrote about a few weeks ago. A little experimentation revealed the magic key combo was Power Button followed by Home Button. Unknowingly, he had shot about 5 of these due to several lockup-reboots.

We have no way to confirm this because none of us are running 1.2/2.0 but let us know if this magic key combo works for you.

It only makes sense that the masses of FaceBook enthusiasts should be able to conveniently tap into their FaceBook profiles on their new iPhones. These are two of the hottest components of modern technology - and they belong together! With the iPhone, you can - or at least will soon be able to - do just about anything that you can do from your PC. Millions of people flock to FaceBook everyday to socialize, market, hook up, and just have fun with their friends and acquaintances there. Sometimes, when you’re on the go, you can’t make it home to your PC - and that’s where your handy iPhone enters the picture and saves the day!

The folks at FaceBook are sufficiently impressed with the staggering initial numbers reported from iPhone usage that they jumped into action to create a website dedicated just to their new marriage with the iPhone. The URL is http://iphone.facebook.com (pretty simple, huh?) and it looks a lot like the brand new Netvibes iPhone website. It isn’t that impressive to view from your PC, but when you open it up on your iPhone, it rocks! It is cool! It is usable in the highest! It is super easy to navigate (like all apps iPhone) and it puts you where you want to be - wherever you may actually be.

In order to avoid page refreshing, the site utilizes javascript. iPhone is still experiencing a slight issue with a little lagging time moving around the site, but bugs are to be expected at this stage and one can be assured that FaceBook and iPhone will in fact come together and make it flow smoothly. Still, that doesn’t stop anyone from having a great time at FaceBook at the helm of their iPhone. This is one of the coolest apps ever and it is going to take off like a rocket! It hasn’t even officially launched yet, so it actually has far fewer bugs than one might expect. Stick around and check it out. It will only get better! Here’s a pic:
