We all knew it was coming. How could it not? Steve Jobs’ keynotes are the legendary, iWork-app defining, AOL Data Center crashing, prediction proliferating, rumor piling, blog bursting, universe denting tech events of our time. But now Apple has gone and made it all nice and official-like: On Monday, June 9, a team of Apple executives […]
deviantArt brings maverick media to iPhones
Website deviantART has been the source of quite a bit of eye candy for Mac users. Mike from deviantART informs us that they are “huge” fans of Apple products, so it’s no surprise that — as of quite recently — visiting the site on your iPhone will yield a new, iPhone-friendly browsing experience.
Feel like checking out the latest or most popular work by the deviantART community while you’re on the go? Point your iPhone (or iPod touch) to http://www.deviantart.com.

.Mac Push Email Coming To iPhones
According to what look to be leaked screens of the upcoming iPhone firmware, .Mac push email could be coming to the iPhone. A new “Fetch new data” button will lead to the list of email accounts (in the picture here). Notice that some are listed as “fetch” while .Mac is listed as “push.” And while we realize that even the hardcore Apple fanbase tends to steer clear of .Mac, there are bound to be like, 5 or 6 people who are just thrilled. iPhone Stocks Being Replenished, Not Sold Out, Say UK Retailers
Despite the rumors of iPhones being out of stock in the UK, it’s not really true—according to the retailers themselves. Reghardware has spoken to both O2 and Carphone Warehouse, and both say they’re just tackling getting more 16GB iPhones for their online departments. Apple themselves have stock and O2 and Carphone Warehouse have iPhones available in their high street stores. Does this info mean they won’t be getting any more 8GB versions, though? Well, we can speculate that, but we don’t know. It also leaves us wondering what this news does to the iPhone 2.0 rumors. [Reghardware]

The fine folks at Schmap have a treat for you — they’d like TUAW readers to have the first whack at their new iPhone City Guides and Local Search before the Mobile Safari-optimized site goes into official beta on Monday, May 12.
Point Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch to www.schmap.com, then enter the pre-launch preview access code: 724627. Once you’re in the site, pull up a Schmap Guide for your favorite city for info, maps, and more. Some of the search features aren’t wired in yet, but they should be done soon.
Schmap’s website has several Flash demos of the features of the Schmap Guides for iPhone. Check it out!
Thanks to Donald at Schmap for the invitation, and Kyle for the tip.

Lextech App Turns Your iPhone into a Surveillance Device
A company called Lextech has created an application that lets you control surveillance devices via your iPhone. As well as watching the action on the phone, the app also lets you control the cameras via its touchscreen. See the system in action in a couple of videos after the jump.
I guess this means no more security guards numbing their arses as they sit, bored, behind banks of monitors. [Lextech via Nowhere Else 2.0]
