Apple iPhone Goes To Casino With 21 Pro Blackjack

I am a big fan of hand held poker and blackjack so when Avalinx released 21 Pro: Blackjack I was excited to play it, but hesitant to play another blackjack game on iPhones. I must admit though, Avalinx produced a visually exciting, easily playable game. From the opening screen it's obvious a lot of time and thought went into this game, making it one of the best casino games out there.

Starting at the home screen it is evident that even the most inexperienced blackjack player or the most casual of iPhone users will have no trouble navigating this game. The list of options is self explanatory and starting with play, every menu option leaves no guessing as to where it leads. Play, of course, is the first menu option and after choosing this option you are greeted with a smooth, easy to follow playing field dressed up like a casino's blackjack table. Starting out with $1000.00 in chips, bets are successive from $5.00, $25.00, $100.00 and $500.00. The betting option is made simple by touching chips (icons) on the right side of the screen and then tapping the deal icon. Of course, all of the typical betting options exist, hit, stand, double down and split. Next on the home screen menu is a history option that does just that, gives you an extensive history and evolution of blackjack. Following history is a nine page explanation of rules both for the player and the dealer. The variations option displays the multiple variations of blackjack, all nine of them, including number of decks, Spanish 21 and European no hole card. However, the most impressive option is the Strategy Guide. This guide gives the player basic strategy on playing 21 effectively and comes with an impressive card chart that leaves no question as to which play to make next. Also, there is an advanced option that teaches you how to count cards properly. The preferences tab allows the user to change game rules and interface options and the help screen offers an explanation of the playing field and credits.

I was so impressed with this game that I contacted the developer to inquire about more casino games to come and was pleased to hear that they have three more games in production. This game is worth every penny, $4.99 at the app store, the only thing missing is the crowd and acrid smoke of a casino, but I'm happy to not lose my money, and I don't feel like I have.
